THE SECURITY COUNCIL AT THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS DISCUSSED THE "SCRIPAL" CASE

30.03.2018

At the moment we do not believe that we should expel diplomats or technical persons from the Russian Embassy in Sofia, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov announced after the meeting of Security Council at the Council of Ministers. Members of the government, management of the special intelligence services, and representatives of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria discussed the “Scripal” case and held a hearing of the Bulgarian ambassador to Moscow, who was called for consultations.

Borissov highlighted that Bulgaria, with the way it voted within the European Council and NATO, has in fact shown its full solidarity with the United Kingdom. “Apart from that, as Presidency of the EU Council, we need to keep the channels for communication open. We will do the same with Russia as we did with Turkey “and this is part of our duties,” the Prime Minister told reporters after the meeting. He mentioned that calling the ambassador for consultation is a diplomatic practice and shows attention is being well paid to the developments.
