THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION AND THE ADOPTION OF THE ANTI-CORRUPTION LEGISLATION ARE AMONG THE PRIORITIES IN THE WORK OF THE GOVERNMENT

09.10.2017

The government has identified as a priority in its work the systematic fight against corruption on all levels of power and the adoption of the anti-corruption legislation by the end of the year. The draft law in counteracting corruption and withdrawal of criminal assets drafted by the Council of Ministers was submitted for consideration by the National Assembly and presented at today’s session of the Consultative Council on National Security with the President of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The absence of the deputy prime ministers Ekaterina Zaharieva and Krasimir Karakachanov, as well as the early leave of the Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov from the session are due to international commitments of our country and the related responsibilities of the respective ministers.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Judicial Reform and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva is in Warsaw to attend a meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs in the Bucharest format – B 9 , whereby the first diplomats of NATO member states from the Eastern flank are to discuss the preparation for the summit of the Alliance in 2018 and the implementation of the decisions from the Warsaw Summit in 2016, as well as the security challenges and questions related to the EU Common Security and Defence Policy.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Public Order and Security Krasimir Karakachanov is on an official visit to France to discuss bilateral cooperation in the defence sector.

The Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov left the session of the Consultative Council before its end as he had to depart for Luxembourg, where the session of the Council on Economic and Financial Affairs of the EU will be held with a focus on discussions on the draft legislation for a VAT system.

The government expresses its full support for the efforts of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria to consolidate the institutional actions in the fight against corruption and will continue to participate actively in this process. All allegations for a boycott of the Consultative Council on National Security are speculations.
