17.07.2024

Twenty fire engines and equipped teams of firefighters arrived from Türkiye in response to the request for assistance by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dimitar Glavchev to put out the fires.

Minister of Interior Kalin Stoyanov will meet the teams in Strandja and next they will be redirected inland where additional reinforcement is needed for the frontline firefighters.

Two Turkish helicopters will land in Bulgaria tomorrow morning and their flight schedules will be drawn up in due time. The helicopters from the Czech Republic have landed at Plovdiv Airport.

Stringent preventive measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the Strandja gas compressor station in the village of Gorska Polyana. Clearings have been made there and Fire Brigade teams and Gendarmerie officers are on duty on a 24-hour schedule.
