RELATIONS BETWEEN BULGARIA AND THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA NEED MORE PRAGMATISM, POINTED OUT PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV TO PRESIDENT GJORGE IVANOV

It is time for us to open up more to one another, to communicate and integrate, said the President of the Republic of Macedonia Gjorge Ivanov during the meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. Ivanov shared that he is glad for the signing of the Agreement for Friendship, Good Neighborly Relations, and Cooperation and added that this is a new stage in the relations between the two states. According to him, the Balkans need to be europeanized so that young people can live in a better environment.

 

“Now we need to confirm the signed contract in practice,” noted in turn Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. According to him, the bilateral relations need more pragmatism and the documents signed today are first steps in the right direction, which will bring direct benefits for the citizens of Bulgaria and the Republic of Macedonia. The Bulgarian Prime Minister also highlighted the European perspective for the Western Balkan countries, which is among the priorities for the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU.

 

Borissov expressed his appreciation for the active political dialogue on governmental level and his expectation that it will be expanded also to the parliamentary dimension, as well as with high-level meetings. The Prime Minister conveyed to Gjorge Ivanov regards from the Bulgarian President.
