Prime Minister Stefan Yanev met H. E. Mr. Dong Xiaojun, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Bulgaria. They reiterated the desire for a positive agenda in bilateral relations, for the consolidation of economic and trade relations and for the continuation of dialog on issues of mutual interest.
The Prime Minister and the Ambassador discussed the opportunities and prospects for the more fruitful and pragmatic development of relations and for the promotion of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Emphasis was placed on an expanded access to the Chinese market for high-quality Bulgarian goods and services and on the provision of the required Chinese permits to increase Bulgarian agricultural produce imports into China.
The discussion highlighted the potential for attracting more investment from the People’s Republic of China. Cooperation in education, culture and tourism was also brought into focus.
The good cooperation between the two countries in the situation of the pandemic was noted.
Also, attention was given to the 17+1 Initiative, which is a tool to promote the investment, business and cultural contacts with China of each of the 17 countries that are parties to the Initiative.
