Prime Minister Stefan Yanev met H. E. Dr. Robert John Dixon, Her Britannic Majesty’s Ambassador to Bulgaria. Their discussion highlighted the very good level of bilateral relations and highly appreciated the maintenance of active political dialog with the United Kingdom, which is an important partner in Europe and a NATO ally.
At their meeting, Prime Minister Yanev and Ambassador Dixon emphasized the need to deepen bilateral relations in a new way after the Brexit, including foreign policy, defense, security and business relations.
Interest was expressed in a more pragmatic mode of cooperation between the two countries and in finding a more efficient pathway towards the promotion of relations at a bilateral, regional and international level. Also the discussion touched on the upcoming parliamentary elections on 11 July and the challenges therefrom.
Special attention was devoted to the possibilities for closer cooperation within the framework of the Three Seas Initiative (3SI).
The European perspective of the Republic of North Macedonia was another point of discussion. Prime Minister Stefan Yanev availed of the opportunity to expound, firmly and in detail, the Bulgarian position on the issue in the context of the need for our Euro-Atlantic partners to have a clear understanding of the Bulgarian national interest.
