Prime Minister Kiril Petkov meets Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan

Prime Minister Kiril Petkov talked with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The venue of the bilateral meeting was Antalya where the 2nd Antalya Diplomacy Forum took place.

 

The talk focused on good neighborly relations between Bulgaria and Turkey and on the desire for more active cooperation in the energy sector and in the economy, infrastructure and defense. Kiril Petkov and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan recognized the progress and the good work done at the bilateral meetings of the transport ministers and the effort put to alleviate border-crossing traffic.

 

Bulgaria’s Prime Minister and Turkey’s President discussed options to improve the transport connectivity and to build and improve transport connections, between Plovdiv and Istanbul included. Turkey’s President congratulated Bulgaria’s Prime Minister on the cabinet’s will to fight corruption and to reform the Judiciary. The two leaders agreed that these policies would attract more investors.

 

Kiril Petkov commended Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his leadership role in the diplomatic talks between Ukraine and Russia.

 

Earlier Prime Minister Petkov attended the Antalya Diplomacy Forum on its second day. “Representing Change” was the topic of the discussion of the Leaders’ Panel. The Prime Minister stressed that the precondition for effecting a change in society and in politics is to be independent.
