Prime Minister Kiril Petkov met with Olivér Várhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement who is visiting Bulgaria to participate in a forum dedicated to the Western Balkans. The Prime Minister and the Commissioner exchanged views on the current situation in the region, including in the context of the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.
Mr. Petkov and Mr. Várhelyi discussed also the latest developments in the dialog between Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia. The Prime Minister reiterated his desire to find a mutually acceptable solution to the outstanding political issues, a solution that recognizes the questions that are sensitive for Bulgaria. Kiril Petkov noted that the intensification of sector-to-sector cooperation between the two countries helps build mutual confidence and understanding.
