Prime Minister Kiril Petkov discusses the potential for strengthening cooperation with Amazon и Google

Today Prime Minister Kiril Petkov met members of the Amazon and Google and discussed the potential for strengthening cooperation with these two Big Tech companies. The Prime Minister talked with Isabella Groegor-Cechowicz, Vice President of Sales EMEA, Amazon, and with Google representatives Slav Petrov and Igor Zgrablic. The meetings were attended by the Minister of Innovation and Growth, Daniel Lorer.

 

Prime Minister Kiril Petkov and the Amazon and Google representatives discussed the new Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT) that will be launched with the support of the Bulgarian Government, Big Tech companies and local businesses. The Prime Minister stressed that the Government would be open to other joint projects with high added value.

 

Prime Minister Kiril Petkov cited the establishment of a regional data center in Bulgaria as a good prospect for potential cooperation with Amazon. On her part, Isabella Groegor-Cechowicz likewise pointed out that the investment in INSAIT is a first step and shows the potential for wider cooperation. The opportunities for Bulgaria to become a logistics and digital hub for Central and Eastern Europe were discussed at the talks with the Amazon representatives.

 

The meeting of Government members with Google representatives discussed the possibility of establishing a joint working group of the Government with the company the aim of which would be to draft proposals for new projects in Bulgaria that relate to digital transformation, cloud technologies and e-government. Thus, next steps in cooperation and investment would be defined.

 

The meetings with representatives of the two companies discussed, inter alia, cooperation in the fields of digitalization, cybersecurity, biotechnology and aerospace engineering.
