Prime Minister Kiril Petkov attends the Sixth European Union-African Union Summit

Prime Minister Kiril Petkov attends the Sixth European Union-African Union (EU-AU) Summit taking place in Brussels today and tomorrow. Development of all-round partnership with Africa is a priority for the EU. Drawing on an ambitious investment package the EU seeks to transform its relations with Africa. Today the leaders of states from Europe and Africa are discussing what elements this package should contain.

 

In his speech at the forum Bulgaria’s Prime Minister advocated for joint investment in joint companies, especially in the energy sector and the energy transition. Africa has many advantages due to its renewables and can join in the EU decarbonization and energy diversification policy, Kiril Petkov said.

 

In his speech, the Prime Minister emphasized the adherence to the Africa-EU sustainable finance initiative that will seek to provide additional funding to sustainable transition by rechanneling existing resources and in the context of the “green” instruments.
