Prime Minister Galab Donev meets US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt

The energy security of Bulgaria and of the region was the pivot of the meeting of Prime Minister Galab Donev with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt. Their discussion in the Prime Minister’s Office recognized Bulgaria’s major achievements in the diversification of the gas supply sources and routes.

 

Prime Minister Galab Donev pointed out the Caretaker Government’s dedicated work for the timely completion of the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB). Further, the Prime Minister mentioned that natural gas prices went down as a result of the efforts made. The Prime Minister said firmly that Bulgaria aspires to avail of any opportunity for energy diversification and stressed the Caretaker Government’s ambition to ensure gas supplies at low prices not only for the Bulgarian citizens and businesses but also for the region for the upcoming winter months.

 

Also, Prime Minister Galab Donev noted that as an exporter of electricity, Bulgaria, likewise, plays a key role in the energy security in the Balkans. He underscored, inter alia, Bulgaria’s constructive input in the interest of energy and transport connectivity in the region.

 

At the conclusion of the discussion, Prime Minister Galab Donev expressed his confidence that the strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the United States would continue to develop in all areas of mutual interest.
