Prime Minister Donev: The Caretaker Government’s legacy: crises have been resolved; institution-to-institution relations have been reestablished; a good dialog has been maintained with citizens; an example has been set of open and transparent governance

“Our legacy to the successor government is: crises have been resolved; institution-to-institution relations have been reestablished; a good dialog has been maintained with citizens; and the belief that the governance of a state is an open and transparent exercise.” The statement was made by Prime Minister Galab Donev at the opening of the cabinet day. The Prime Minister noted that if everyone is talking about the third entrustment to a Prime Minister designate, it is to mean that the Caretaker Government’s term in office is coming to a close and in this context, next week the government will report what it has achieved.

“Often sociologists say about us that none of the Caretaker Government members is particularly outshining. This is because we work as a team. Our cabinet consists of executives, not of actors. We are not acting on a stage, we are exercising our prerogatives in compliance with the Constitution and the laws of the country," Galab Donev said firmly. As he put it, while politicians are excited about the third entrustment to a Prime Minister designate who is nominated by one of the minor parliamentary groups, people worry, the cause of the worry being the flu viruses. The Prime Minister instructed the Health Minister Asen Medzhidiev and the Education Minister Sasho Penov to enable the coordination between the departments and teams under their jurisdiction so that they assist the regional headquarters, as much as possible, in making adequate decisions.

The Prime Minister emphasized that after nearly two years of the COVID pandemic, the health system knows how to react when the incidence of acute respiratory diseases rises. “It is children who get sick most often. Draw up an action plan so that people feel calm and be free of unnecessary panic and hysteria. Let's not forget that the flu viruses visit us every year," Prime Minister Galab Donev stressed.
