Prime Minister Galab Donev: Bulgaria is not an accomplice in the preparation of the Crimean Bridge blast

11.10.2022

Bulgaria is a sovereign state and in keeping with the Constitution and laws of the country, the Government would not allow that the national territory might be used for terrorist and hostile operations that put the reputation of the state and the security of Bulgarian citizens at risk. This was the firm position of Prime Minister Galab Donev taken on the Crimean Bridge blast.

Prior to the opening of the Interior Ministry’s National Meeting today Prime Minister Galab Donev assured reporters that Bulgaria was not an accomplice in the preparation of the Crimean Bridge blast and that the Russian authorities had not made any such accusation officially. The Prime Minister said that following media reports on Sunday he issued a command that the State Agency for National Security (SANS) investigate the case. Prime Minister Galab Donev said further that the prosecutor’s office had been notified about the investigation under way and that the authorities within whose competence the case lies would be informed about the findings from the investigation.

The Prime Minister appealed to the media to comment on this issue conscientiously as it poses risks to Bulgaria’s national security. “The so-called Bulgarian Connection in the truck case appears in media texts and I appeal to you to be responsible as the use of this phrase implies partnership in the said crime,” Prime Minister Galab Donev said further.
