PRIME MINISTER BOYKO BORISSOV PARTICIPATED IN THE INTERNATIONAL SUMMIT FOR THE SAHEL

23.02.2018

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov participated in the International Summit for the Sahel, held in Brussels. He pointed out that there should be security centers close to the conflicts, so that after the conflicts are over, people would be able to return to their countries and contribute to their recovery. Borissov added that work in support of the peace process in those countries should only be undertaken through diplomatic means.

The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of the continuation of the Readmission Agreement for migrants with Turkey. “If we guarantee border protection, neighborhood agreements and security centers where migrants could live, then the debate within the EU will be easier,” Borissov said. The Bulgarian Prime Minister also added that EU security could be further guaranteed if migrants passed only through border check points and with identity papers.
