PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV DISCUSSED THE TOPIC OF THE DIGITAL SINGLE MARKET WITH THE PRIME MINISTER OF LUXEMBOURG XAVIER BETTEL

18.01.2018

Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel congratulated Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on his presentation of the priorities of the Bulgarian Presidency at the European Parliament yesterday. In a telephone conversation, he wished Bulgaria success at the forefront of the EU Council and expressed his expectation that, together with Borissov, the two will join forces to achieve good results to the benefit of the Union and its citizens.

Within the conversation, digitization and a single European digital market were highlighted as areas of particular mutual interest. Bulgaria and Luxembourg will partner for the rapid development of this priority, the two Prime Ministers agreed. Bettel, who is also Luxembourg's communications and media minister, expressed interest in organizing, jointly with the Bulgarian Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, an informal telecom ministerial meeting with the participation of EU Commissioner Maria Gabriel in Sofia in April. The aim is to support the faster development of the Digital Single Market and the telecommunications of the European Union. The meeting will also be in confirmation of the commitment expressed by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov to his Estonian counterpart Yuri Ratas that as President of the EU Council our country will continue the efforts in development of this field that is of priority for many Member States.

Prime Minister Bettel accepted the invitation to visit our country to discuss these topics in detail, as well as other issues on the European Union agenda.
