Prime Minister Acad. Nikolai Denkov spoke over phone with Moldova’s President Maia Sandu. They discussed the progress in the project of a Bulgarian University in Taraclia and the European prospects for Chisinau.

Acad. Nikolai Denkov thanked the President for advancing his proposal for the transformation of the Taraclia Gregory Tsamblak State University into a branch of the Angel Kunchev University of Rousse. They discussed the idea at their meeting in Athens in late August 2023. “The development of the University is of key importance for the Taraclia Region with its large Bulgarian minority,” Acad. Nikolai Denkov said. The University is important both for training highly skilled local professionals and for throwing a bridge to Bulgarian educational institutions. And not least, the University strengthens the relation of the Bulgarian community in the region with Bulgaria. Prime Minister Acad. Nikolai Denkov and President Maia Sandu expect the intergovernmental agreement in preparation on this project to be signed soon.

On her part, Moldova’s President thanked Bulgaria for its support to Chisinau’s effort to join the European Union. Acad. Nikolai Denkov and Maia Sandu agreed that the only guarantee for development and security in our region is for it to be part of a strong and prosperous Europe.
