PRIME MINISTER BOYKO BORISSOV: WE ARE PUTTING EDUCATION AS THE MAIN PRIORITY IN THE PROJECT FOR THE NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME 2030

Bulgaria will put education as the main priority in the project for the National Development Programme 2030. This is what Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said during his meeting with the Director-General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay.

 The discussion was mainly focused on the priorities of the Bulgarian government’s policy regarding the area of education and sciences, and the cooperation with UNESCO. The Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev and the Minister of Culture Boil Banov also took part in the meeting.

 “The most important factor for high-quality education are the teachers, and this is why we are fulfilling our duty to increase their income,” stated Prime Minister Borissov. He also pointed out that the government is making an effort to ensure the quality of the educational process and environment. “The state ensures equal access to all levels of education and professional learning for disadvantaged adults and children, as well as for disabled Bulgarians,” said Prime Minister Borissov.

Director-General Audrey Azoulay congratulated Bulgaria on the achievements in the area of education and sciences and thanked for the support from our country in the UN for the prevention of extremism and anti-Semitism.

 Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the Director-General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay discussed cooperation in the sphere of underwater archeology, especially in the region around the island of St. St. Cyricus and Julitta near Sozopol. The Bulgarian Prime Minister reminded that many of our monuments of culture are UNESCO sites. Audrey Azoulay said that she was extremely impressed with the Thracian Golden Treasure, which was exhibited in the Louvre museum in Paris in 2014.
