15.02.2020

Bulgaria and Moldova are seen as important priority partners, as evidenced by the active dialogue at the highest levels in recent years. This is what Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said during the talks in Munich with Moldovan President Igor Dodon. The two are meeting for the second time in an year, with their previous meeting taking place in March 2019 at the Seventh Global Baku Forum in Azerbaijan.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov put an emphasis on the traditionally good level of cooperation between Bulgaria and Moldova. The Bulgarian Prime Minister pointed out that Moldova is a traditional foreign economic partner for our country and that we are ready to expand our economic ties. According to Borissov, steps need to be taken to overcome the decline in bilateral trade. According to the Prime Minister, a possible measure in this direction is the activation of the Intergovernmental Bulgarian-Moldovan Commission for Economic Cooperation.

During the talks, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov focused on the Bulgarian community in Moldova, which he defined as a natural link between the two countries. "We think of the 60-thousand Bulgarian community in Moldova as a bridge of friendship and cooperation," Borissov said. The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the Moldovan authorities' tolerant policy towards the Bulgarian community and reaffirmed Bulgaria's willingness to work with its Moldovan partners to improve its well-being.
