16.01.2018

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov held a telephone conversation with Kosovo President Hashim Thaci on yesterday’s assassination of one of Kosovo Serb’s leaders Oliver Ivanovic. Borissov severely condemned the assassination and expressed his condolences to the close ones and the supporters of the politician.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister expressed hope that the tragic case will not prevent the normalization of relations between Pristina and Belgrade, and insisted on Kosovo President's personal commitment to resuming the dialogue. “In Strasbourg, the topic of integration of the Western Balkans is a priority. I presented the Members of the European Parliament with our arguments as to why the countries from the region deserve a European perspective, but efforts must be made by everyone. I also count on your help that the case of Kosovo Mitrovica would not deviate us from this big goal,” said Boyko Borissov and called for active work to identify the perpetrator.

President Thaci underlined that law enforcement authorities in Kosovo will do their best to find the perpetrator and his contractors. “We will not allow this assassination to deviate us from our goal of normalizing the relations with Serbia,” he added.
