Prime Minister Boyko Borissov talked with EC President Ursula von der Leyen at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The focus of their talks were the main topics on the agenda of the forum, related to nature conservation, business transparency, the future of work and geopolitical issues.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister noted that turning the EU into the first climate-neutral bloc by 2050 is a great challenge, but also a great opportunity. "The transition to climate neutrality will require bigger investments, but it will be a clear sign that Europe is putting its citizens’ health and the conservation of nature for the future generations on the first place," Borissov told Ursula von der Leyen.

In this regard, they discussed the significance and the role of the new EC strategy, known as the European Green Deal, which is projected to receive around € 1 trillion in funding over the next decade. The Green Deal makes it possible to change our way of life so that the citizens can live in a healthier way and businesses can become even more modern and competitive.

"The success of the European Green Deal and the fight against climate change can be ensured if these initiatives are supported by all countries, especially those with high greenhouse gas emissions. The EU's example needs to be followed by our partners and major players on the international stage," Prime Minister Boyko Borissov was certain.
