PRIME MINISTER BOYKO BORISSOV SPOKE WITH THE CROWN PRINCE ALOIS VON UND ZU LIECHTENSTEIN

25.01.2018

Bulgaria's role in generating stability and security in Europe is valued, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said after his meeting with the Crown Prince Alois von und zu Liechtenstein in Vaduz. This is the first such meeting at such level between Bulgaria and the Principality of Liechtenstein.

The subject of security in Europe was among the main topics of the conversation. Borissov pointed out that Bulgaria already has a well-established image, not only because of the EU Coucil Presidency, but because it has been leading a pro-European and peaceful policy for years. “We now have the extraordinary chance to do something for the Western Balkans, to different from some others who are still in conflict with each other and waging war,” the Prime Minister said.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov informed Alois von und zu Liechtenstein about the topics on which the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union will work. It was pointed out that these include advancing digitization and the development of e-services, a priority area for Liechtenstein as well.

The Prime Minister and the Crown Prince noted that bilateral relations are developing at a good pace at the political and cultural level. There is a need to step up the economic partnership between the two countries and expand on trade. Both sides could actively partner in innovation and new technologies, industrial production and dual education. Borissov highlighted both during our rotating Presidency and afterwards the members of the Bulgarian government will be available for consultations on issues of mutual interest.

Prince Alois von und zu Liechtenstein accepted the invitation of the Bulgarian Prime Minister to visit Bulgaria and pointed out that he would be glad to get personally acquainted with our beautiful country, on whose nature and history he has heard a lot.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister for the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council Lilyana Pavlova.
