PRIME MINISTER BOYKO BORISSOV'S PARTICIPATION IN THE EUROPEAN COUNCIL MEETING HAS STARTED

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov's participation in the European Council meeting, which is held for the third time through a videoconference, has started. European leaders will coordinate EU member states’ efforts to tackle COVID-19.

 

In addition to the measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus, the Heads of State or Government will also discuss the provision of medical equipment, personal protective equipment and respirators, as well as the availability of additional research and vaccine funding.

 

The focus of the European leaders' talk will also be on how to deal with the socio-economic consequences caused by the spread of COVID-19. It is also expected for them to address the issue of EU citizens still blocked in third countries.

 

The European Council will also discuss the adoption of a decision to open EU accession talks with the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Albania.
