Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and Environment of the US Department of State Keith Krach during the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Borissov and Krach discussed US President Donald Trump's speech during the Davos forum. "There was a lot of optimism in it. I am glad that our strategic partnership is exactly in those areas that Trump is talking about - jobs, income, security, a powerful economy,". Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said. The Bulgarian Prime Minister added that in Davos he had talked with Ivanka Trump, who is part of the US official delegation to the forum as an adviser to the president. "The idea she has is extremely important for our region and is in the field of youth unemployment," Borissov said.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister emphasized before the US Under Secretary of State that two major events will be held in Sofia this year - the Aqaba process, organized by Bulgaria with the King of Jordan and the Berlin process, co-hosted by Bulgaria and by the Republic of North Macedonia.

In the course of the talks, Boyko Borissov also pointed out that the energy sector provides a wide field for cooperation between Bulgaria and the USA. "Our partnership in this area has the potential to contribute to strengthening our country's energy security and to diversifying energy sources and routes, including through the import of liquefied natural gas under favorable conditions for Bulgaria," said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. He noted that our country highly appreciates the support of the US partners for the implementation of priority infrastructure projects such as the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector and the designed LNG terminal at Alexandroupolis. "Maintaining Bulgaria's key role in Europe's gas map is of a strategic importance," Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said.
