PRIME MINISTER BOYKO BORISSOV MET WITH THE MINISTER OF THE INTERIOR, SPORT AND INTEGRATION OF THE FREE STATE OF BAVARIA JOACHIM HERRMANN

Bulgaria and Bavaria attach great importance to security issues within the European Union, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov noted during his meeting with Bavaria's Minister of the Interior, Sport and Integration, Joachim Herrmann. In the course of their talks in the Council of Ministers, Prime Minister Borissov pointed out the traditionally friendly relations between our country and Germany, including the federal province of Bavaria. "We will continue to rely on the support of Germany, and in particular of Bavaria, for our efforts in favor of pan-European security," Borissov said.

 

The Prime Minister emphasized the excellent common work on the “Security” priority area of the Danube Strategy. "Due to the good interaction that our countries have as coordinators, this priority area is one of the most successful within the strategy," Borissov added.

 

During the meeting, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov noted Bulgaria's efforts to ensure the security of the EU's external borders and the cooperation with Frontex. "We highly appreciate Germany's serious contribution to the joint operations at the Bulgarian borders," the Prime Minister said. Borissov added that in the context of the fight against international terrorism our country attaches great importance to the rapid and high-quality exchange of information between all involved institutions in real time.

 

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov put an emphasis on the benefits of developing police cooperation and working together proactively on all issues of mutual interest. In his words, the exchange of experience and expertise between the services is of a great importance in countering cross-border crime. Borissov underlined that Bulgaria is an active partner in international police cooperation, contributing to a number of successful international investigations.

 

In the course of the talks, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov also noted the fight against trafficking in cultural and historical artefacts, expressing his confidence that both sides will continue their successful work on this issue. The Prime Minister also noted that as a co-chair of the Berlin Process this year, Bulgaria is working to strengthen regional cooperation in the fight against corruption and the prevention of the radicalization among young people.
