PRIME MINISTER BOYKO BORISSOV MET WITH THE GEORGIAN PRIME MINISTER GIORGI GAKHARIA IN DAVOS

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The focus of the talks between the two heads of government was the development of the political and economic ties between the two countries.

 

In front of his Georgian counterpart, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov expressed his satisfaction with the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries, emphasizing that Georgia is among Bulgaria's main foreign partners in the region of the Black Sea and the South Caucasus. "Bulgaria thinks of Georgia as our traditional economic partner, with whom we want to develop comprehensive, long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation," emphasised the Prime Minister.

 

During the meeting, Boyko Borissov pointed out that Bulgaria welcomes the strengthening of our partnership in the context of the infrastructure connectivity between Europe and Asia, especially regarding the implementation of projects of common interest in the field of energy and transport. According to the Bulgarian Prime Minister, this will help strengthen the stability, security and economic well-being of both countries and the Black Sea region as a whole.

 

In the course of the talks, Bulgarian Prime Minister Borissov put an emphasis on Georgia's role as a strategic partner of the EU in improving security of energy supply, diversifying routes and sources of gas supplies to Europe and to Bulgaria in particular. "The development of the Southern Gas Corridor, including the expansion of the pipeline in the South Caucasus into Georgia, is a common priority in order to transport Caspian energy resources to the western markets," Boyko Borissov also told the Georgian Prime Minister.

 

In the context of the Bulgarian support for Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic prospects, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov noted that our country will continue to work for Georgia's strategic choice in the future. "Bulgaria will continue to share its experience in the direction of the EU and NATO, as well as overall in the process of carrying out democratic reforms in Georgia," Borissov said.

 

В контекста на българската подкрепа за европейската и евроатлантическата перспектива на Грузия, премиерът Бойко Борисов отбеляза, че страната ни ще продължи да работи и за в бъдеще за стратегическия избор на Грузия. „България ще продължи да споделя своя опит в направление ЕС и НАТО, както и цялостно в процеса на провеждане на демократични реформи в Грузия“, заяви Борисов.
