Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik discussed the process of Euro-Atlantic integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the increase in the economic cooperation between the two states. The two leader met in the framework of the Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the South-East European Cooperation Process.

Bulgaria is an initiator and remains an active participant in the South-East European Cooperation Process, and we continue to consider the initiative a leading political framework for partnership in the region and a major platform for the European integration of the Western Balkan states,” noted Prime Minister Borissov.

He reminded that the European integration of the countries from the region was a top priority during the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council in 2018 and remains a leading task for the Bulgarian government. "At the moment, Bosnia and Herzegovina's main goal must continue to be its function as a stable country in order to prevent the dangers of blocking its European path," the Prime Minister said. He emphasized the need for the country to implement all reforms in the socio-economic sphere, strengthening the rule of law, fighting corruption, organized crime and terrorism. “The place of all states from the region is in the EU, because this is the only way we will have sustainable stability, which will help overcome the traumas from the recent past,” also said Boyko Borissov during the meeting.

Both leaders agreed that it is necessary to strengthen the connectivity process in the areas of infrastructure, business, and digitalization and the connection between young people in the region.

Boyko Borissov and Milorad Dodik reviewed the bilateral relations and were certain that there is potential for expanding the trade and economic ties between Bulgaria and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
