PRIME MINISTER BOYKO BORISSOV MET WITH MEPS FROM THE COMMITTEE ON REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

30.10.2017

The EU Cohesion Policy decreases the differences among member states. In Bulgaria this can be seen in every city, we see the infrastructure that has been built in the last ten years, we see the water filtering stations that have been built, the waste treatment plants, the underground. This was pointed out by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov at a meeting with the members of the Committee on Regional Development of the European Parliament, chaired by Iskra Mihaylova. The efforts in this respect should not stop. Bulgaria proves itself as a reliable partner and a responsible member state of the European Union, said Boyko Borissov.

The members of the Committee on Regional Development agreed that the Presidency of the Council of the EU comes in the right moment for Bulgaria as our country can show the real achievements of the Cohesion Policy and its shared benefits for all member states.

We will put all efforts in guiding the debates during the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council in a constructive direction, so that working solutions can be found for the development of the European Union. We have extremely difficult challenges ahead of us, and against this background, we – all member states, should unite around the financial framework for the next programming period, highlighted Boyko Borissov. All countries and the European institutions should direct their efforts towards making European investments more effective, easier, and faster for implementation, more visible for the citizens.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Dontchev, Iskra Mihaylova, member of the European Parliament and Chair of the Committee on Regional Development, as well as by the MEPs Andrey Novakov, Angel Dzhambazki, Stanislav Polcak, Joachim Zeller, Constance Krehl, Jens Nilsson, Matthijs van Miltenburg, Younous Omargee.
