PRIME MINISTER BOYKO BORISSOV MET WITH EUROPOL'S DESIGNATED EXECUTIVE DIRECTORE CATHERINE DE BOLLE

The fight against terrorism, trafficking in human beings, the misuse of payment instruments, and computer crimes were among the topics discussed by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the Chief Commissioner of the Federal Police of Belgium Catherine de Bolle. As of 1 May  she will head European agency for fighting crime Europol.

 

Boyko Borissov and Catherine de Bolle expressed high appreciation of the successful joint operations of the Bulgarian and Belgian police services on counter-terrorism. “I believe that good cooperation between the two countries' services will continue after you take the lead of Europol,” the Bulgarian Prime Minister said. He pointed out that Bulgaria and Belgium are also actively involved in issues related to trafficking in human beings, counterfeited documents, protection of public order, child crime, migrating criminal groups, etc.

 

The Bulgarian Prime Minister has assured his guest that Bulgaria will continue to enhance the cooperation with Europol. “The Agency has always been a reliable partner of our country in combating migratory pressures, smuggling of cigarettes, and misuse of payment instruments,” the Prime Minister underlined.
