PRIME MINISTER BOYKO BORISSOV MET WITH EC VICE PRESIDENT MAROS SEFCOVIC

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with European Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic. In the context of the Bulgarian Presidency's key priority related to the Western Balkan’s European perspective, the Bulgarian Prime Minister noted the progress in the initiatives to increase the connectivity of the region. It was widely accepted that promoting regional cooperation and energy integration in the region are important for establishing a secure, well-functioning and accessible energy system.

 

Borissov also stressed the importance of building the Balkan gas hub, which is part of the policy of integrating and developing a free and competitive gas market in Southeastern Europe. The Prime Minister pointed out that this Balkan project will guarantee the liberalization of energy markets and affordable energy prices for consumers.

 

During the meeting with Maros Sefcovic, the Prime Minister also pointed out that as the rotating presidency of the EU Council, Bulgaria will continue its efforts to achieve a stable European Energy Union and positive results on the priority topics in the field of energy.
