We want a united Balkans and modern infrastructure, because that means better conditions for business, tourism and trade. This is what Prime Minister Boyko Borissov stated during a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The dialogue between the countries in our region must be more active in order to create opportunities for the development of infrastructure and energy connections in the region. "Good roads and transport projects will be a prerequisite for attracting investment and economic prosperity," said Prime Minister Borissov.

In the course of the conversation, an expectation was expressed for the removal of all obstacles to the free movement of citizens between Bulgaria and Greece, in accordance with the epidemic situation. The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the active work of the respective ministries in negotiating the steps to safely restart tourism. From June 15, Greece will finally open its borders for free passage.

The functioning of the "green" transport corridors was deemed a positive step for the economies of both states.

"The COVID-19 pandemic is proof that migratory pressure on Europe requires a collective response from the European Union. As a member state of the front line, Bulgaria assumes full responsibility for controlling the external borders through cooperation with the neighboring countries - Greece and Turkey," underlined during the conversation Prime Minister Borissov. Before Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Bulgarian Prime Minister Borissov noted that our country is successfully coping with the protection of the EU's external border and recalled that Bulgaria has always insisted on establishing a comprehensive mechanism for managing migration based on a fair balance between responsibility and solidarity between Member States.
