PRIME MINISTER BOYKO BORISSOV DISCUSSED THE PRIORITIES OF THE BULGARIAN PRESIDENCY WITH MARIO MONTI

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov informed the former Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti about the priorities of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU. Monti, who has a rich experience in European politics, is in Sofia to attend the conference “The Future of Europe and the Bulgarian perspective.”

The Italian politician gave his full support for the priorities of the Bulgarian Presidency related to security, the continuation of cohesion and the increase in competitiveness. He highlighted that the topic of the Western Balkans is particularly important. According to him, Bulgaria has the opportunity to send a strong message to Europe with the Summit on the European perspective of the countries form the region that will be organized during the Bulgarian Presidency.

Borissov pointed out that our country relies on a clear and positive agenda, oriented towards the future and the achievement of concrete results. He also underlined that European citizens expect more security, higher employment rates, and a strong EU presence on the international stage and these are the directions in which the Bulgarian Presidency aims to work.

Mario Monti was accompanied by Ivaylo Kalfin with whom they have worked together within the High Level Group on Own Resources of the EU.
