29.09.2017

We will rely on the support of the European Commission and on your advice during the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, said Prime Minister Borissov during his meeting with the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker in Tallinn.

According to the Bulgarian Prime Minister, during the six months of our Presidency, issues with great future can be viewed if our country manages to put them on the agenda in the right way. The Prime Minister noted that the support Bulgaria receives for its initiative to organize a summit of EU leaders on the topic “Western Balkans” in Sofia is telling.

Prime Minister Borissov thanked for Juncker’s words that Bulgaria is a role-model – with its financial and economic stability and secure borders. We are doing great as a reliable Schengen border, pointed out the Prime Minister. He added that he is satisfied with the visits of European leaders to Bulgaria, who subsequently can share with their colleagues what ther have seen and how we are doing. According to him, this helps to disperse any doubts regarding the readiness of our country for Schengen and the Eurozone.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov also highlighted the financial indicators of our country, the low unemployment, the fight against smuggling, and the government measures for eliminating more the administrative burden for the citizens and the business.
