PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV: WE WILL MAKE NO COMPROMISES WHEN IT COMES TO THE WAR ON THE ROADS AND FOOD QUALITY

27.05.2017

There are two issues that I want us to make no compromises on. The first one is the war on the roads and road accidents, the second – food quality. This was stated by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov at the beginning of a working session at the Council of Ministers, whereby concrete measures on both issues were discussed, as well as the deadlines for their implementation.

“We are talking about tackling the demographic crisis and still we have two-three and more road accidents daily. I am interested in what we can do through the Ministry of Regional Development – blinds, circulars, lying policemen, infrastructure changes. Each and every human life is important for us. We do so much to increase the birth rate but grown-up kids die so easily,” pointed out the Prime Minister. He commissioned the Road Police and the Ministry of Interior to guarantee a 24/7 control for the summer tourist season that starts on June 1.

Prime Minister Borissov defined the double standard on food quality as inadmissible and offensive. According to him, it is unacceptable that part of the citizens in Europe have one level of food quality, whereas for Eastern Europe – the quality is worse and harmful for the health. “We give so much money for healthcare and still we are in the first places for heart-attacks and strokes. Every physician will tell you that one of the biggest risks for a person’s health is namely that – what one eats and drinks or the so called lifestyle,” noted the Prime Minister.
