PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV: THE FIGHT AGAINST CYBERCRIMES REQUIRES MORE ATTENTION FROM THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION

The European Commission can focus its attention more on the fight against cyber threats and cybercrimes, noted Prime Minister Boyko Borissov at his meeting at the Council of Ministers with the Vice President of the EC and Commissioner for Jobs, Growth, Investment, and Competitiveness Jyrki Katainen. According to Prime Minister Borissov, this will be to the interest of the security of all EU member states, given the rapid development of technologies.

During the conversation, the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2018 was discussed. Borissov pointed out that one of the three key messages of our country will be the competitiveness of the European economy. The other highlights will include support for entrepreneurship, growth and jobs, deepening of the Economic and Monetary Union, sustainable environment, and an effective Energy Union.

The two agreed on the importance of European funds and their effective and reasonable utilization so as to achieve a maximum effect for EU citizens. Prime Minister Borissov pointed out that thanks to European solidarity a number of projects are being implemented in our country to a big societal benefit. He gave the example of the underground in Sofia and other projects in the fields of infrastructure and ecology.
