Bulgaria highly appreciates its strategic partnership with the United States of America and I am certain that today’s meeting will be of a great benefit to its development. This is what Prime Minister Boyko Borissov stated at the beginning of his meeting with US President Donald Trump. „It is a great honor and privilege for me for our meeting to be in the White House - a symbol of freedom and democracy“, Prime Minister Borissov noted. The Bulgarian Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the established stable political dialogue at all levels and expressed confidence that its further activation will benefit both countries.
Prime Minister Boyko Borissov put an emphasis on the excellent partnership between Bulgaria and the US in a number of areas. In his conversation with US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Borissov outlined the constructive interaction between the two countries on the preparation and signing of the contract for the acquisition of the F-16 Block 70 fighter jets. The Bulgarian Prime Minister placed a particular emphasis on industrial cooperation, which accompanies the modernization of the Bulgarian Armed Forces.
Prime Minister Borissov also noted the cooperation of Bulgaria and the US in the field of energy, in the context of national security. He also highlighted the projects that our country is working hard on that will contribute to the diversification of energy sources and routes.
Another topic, highlighted by Prime Minister Borissov, was the importance of trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and the US. The Prime Minister said that US investors are welcome in our country and indicated the aspiration of our country to promote high-tech industries. The Bulgarian Prime Minister pointed out Bulgaria‘s advantages as an investment destination.
Prime Minister Boyko Borissov expressed Bulgaria‘s interest in deepening its cooperation with the United States in a number of other areas such as education, science, promoting tourism and people- to-people contacts.
