PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV TALKED WITH EC PRESIDENT URSULA VON DER LEYEN

28.02.2020

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov had a telephone conversation with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. In the course of the conversation, which took place at the request of the Bulgarian Prime Minister, Borissov informed the President of the Commission of the issues discussed earlier today between him and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov urges the EU to maintain open channels of communication with Turkey and for more dialogue on issues that can be solved together and through dialogue.

Prime Minister Borissov said that the feeling of our neighbor that they have to deal with the huge migrant problem alone is growing, which, in his words, is not in anyone's interest.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister underlined that he highly appreciates the good neighborly relations with Turkey and emphasized the cooperation that our country has with Turkey regarding the protection of our border, which is also an external border of the EU.
