PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV'S PERSONAL MEETING WITH TURKISH PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN HAS BEGUN

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov's personal meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Bestepe Presidential Palace in Ankara has begun. Prime Minister Borissov was welcomed by Vice President Fuat Oktay.

 

The Bulgarian Prime Minister and the Turkish Head of State will discuss possible bilateral action to reduce migrant pressure, both in the area of our common border and in the whole region. Borissov and Erdoğan will discuss measures in the region that will contribute to the establishment of security and stability.

 

The talks are conducted in the context of the relations between Bulgaria and Turkey, based on the principles of good neighborliness, equality and mutual benefit. The meeting in Ankara between Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is another confirmation of the serious ties between the two countries, which, apart from neighbors, are NATO allies and regional partners.

 

For Bulgaria, Turkey is an important EU partner in tackling a number of challenges such as migration pressure on Europe, the fight against terrorism, energy supplies and energy security, infrastructure, trade, economy.

 

After the personal meeting between Prime Minister Borissov and President Erdoğan, a working dinner will be held between the two leaders and their delegations. Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mladen Marinov and Chairman of the Committee on Culture and Media at the National Assembly Vezhdi Rashidov will also take part in the event.
