04.05.2020

"We are in a pandemic, in a situation that the world has not experienced since World War II. Our medical systems are being tested, there are thousands of human victims. A crisis of this dimension requires a strong, coordinated, comprehensive and coherent global response. "

This is what Prime Minister Boyko Borissov stated during his participation in the International Virtual Donors' Conference, organized on the initiative of the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to provide funding for the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through this activity, the EC and the G-20 countries are demonstrating more active political and financial support to tackle the spread and socio-economic consequences of the coronavirus.

"We strongly support the efforts of the United Nations and all the international institutions that are currently working. Every day we pay homage to the actions of medical teams, laboratory technicians and all those who work towards the development and discovery of the most important thing - a vaccine and a drug against COVID-19," said Prime Minister Borissov before the international conference. He noted that Bulgaria welcomes what the EC is currently doing and our country is involved with funds amounting to 100,000 euros for the creation and global implementation of a vaccine against COVID-19.

Prime Minister Borissov congratulated all EU commissioners, heads of state and government who have actively worked and have joined the initiative, which will help fight the new virus.

"Last but not least, I believe that this should make us learn our lessons and stock up, even stockpile the European Union with protective clothing, goggles, masks and everything we need, tests, respirators, additional equipment and, of course, training, qualification and protection of medical personnel ", said the Bulgarian Prime Minister to the heads of state and government of the EU and the G-20.
