PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV MET WITH THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION OF THE UAE SHEIKH ABDULLAH BIN ZAYED BIN SULTAN AL NAHYAN

After we actively worked for the relations between Bulgaria and the United Arab Emirates, it is important to keep this dynamic and to continue to develop the beneficial cooperation between the two.  This is what Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said during his meeting in the Council of Ministers with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of UAE Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Prime Minister Borissov defined the work of the embassy of the UAE in Sofia, which is to be officially opened later today, as a beneficial step. The prime minister pointed out that this will create additional terms for facilitation of the bilateral dialogue and economic and trade-related cooperation between the two states.

According to Prime Minister Borissov, the dynamic development of the relations between Bulgaria and the UAE during the last few years is due not only to the political goodwill, but also to the important regional role and significance of the two states and their shared objective towards partnership in a wide spectrum of areas. Only for six months, from October 2018 to March 2019, a sequence of meetings were held and the main event was the official visit of the Prime Minister Borissov in the UAE, which was the first bilateral visit on the highest governmental level.

During the meeting in the Council of Ministers, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov also noted that the United Arab Emirates is an important and prospective foreign trade partner for Bulgaria among the other Gulf States. The prime minister pointed out the benefits of our state as a destination for investment and the potential of the UAE to diversify its investment portfolio in Bulgaria. According to Prime Minister Borissov, undertaking concrete steps in the areas of economic and trade-related cooperation, partnership in informational technologies, agriculture, tourism, security and energy would be of a shared interest for both states. Prime Minister Borissov pointed out towards the possibility for a first session of the Mixed Economic Commission to take place.

 Prime Minister Boyko Borissov congratulated the UAE for hosting the EXPO 2020 in Dubai and thanked for the invitation for Bulgaria to take part in the forum. The Prime Minister added that our state will work actively for the preparation of the Bulgarian participation and expressed his confidence that the event will bring about economic advantages.
