14.07.2017

Bulgaria and the United Kingdom have excellent bilateral relations that have proven their significance over the years, and the United Kingdom leaving the European Union will not impair the partnership between the two countries and the friendship between their peoples. This is the opinion that Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the Minister of State for Europe and the US at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom Sir Alan Duncan agreed on.

The two states will continue their good cooperation for the sake of guaranteeing security in Europe, managing migration flows, counteracting terrorism, smuggling, and corruption. A strong positive impact on the relations is exerted by the big Bulgarian diaspora in the United Kingdom. According to Prime Minister Borissov, the diaspora is characterized by experts of high qualification who provide a big added value to the British economy. The Prime Minister pointed out that for Bulgaria it is important that during the negotiations between Brussels and London legal certainty be guaranteed for EU citizens in the United Kingdom.

The common desire for attaining stability in South East Europe was also highlighted during the conversation. Prime Minister Borissov informed his guest about the talks that were held in Trieste and Thessaloniki in the recent days.
