PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV MET WITH A DELEGATION OF THE VENICE COMMISSION

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with a delegation of the Venice Commission at the Council of Ministers. In the course of the conversation, Prime Minister Borissov noted the findings in the latest report on the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism for Bulgaria and indicated that our country has fulfilled all the indicators and recommendations that the European Commission has set as conditions for the elimination of monitoring. According to the Prime Minister, the progress made by Bulgaria in this area corresponds to the commitments that our country has made since joining the European Union. Prime Minister Borissov was certain that guaranteeing the rule of law would continue to be a priority for our country.

 

With regard to the proposed legislative changes to the Code of Criminal Procedure, Prime Minister Borissov noted that the draft was prepared in accordance with the recommendations of the EU Cooperation and Verification Mechanism. The opinion of the Venice Commission on the bill is extremely important for Bulgaria and our government will take it into consideration, Prime Minister Borissov said. He pointed out that the topic had also been discussed with Brussels before seeking the opinion of the Venice Commission on the changes.
