PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV INSPECTED THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE SEGMENT LOZENETS-NEDYALSKO OF THE TRANSIT GAS PIPELINE TO TURKEY

17.08.2017

With the construction of the gas pipeline segment Lozenets-Nedyalsko the capacity of the transit pipeline to Turkey will increase from 14 to 15,7 billion cubic meters of gas, said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, who together with the Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova inspected the project, which is to be completed in 2018.

“I am satisfied that next year we will have pipelines in both directions connecting to the gas hub,” noted the Prime Minister. He highlighted the active work on the interconnectors with Serbia and Greece. According to him, the reversible connections are being built and the opportunity is being created for transporting gas from various sources to the gas hub – Azeri, Russian, liquid gas, gas from Romania, and others. In respect to the “Balkan” gas hub itself, the Prime Minister pointed out that the pre-project probing will be launched and will be financed through European funds.

“The differences in the way that South Stream was negotiated some time ago and what is being done at the moment are obvious,” said Prime Minister Borissov. “They used to talk about having signed a contact with Azerbaijan for the delivery of the huge amounts of gas. But the gas cannot be delivered via air. So, now, we are implementing what they only had as wishful thinking,” added Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
