PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV IN SKOPJE: DURING THE LAST TWO YEARS WE ACCOMPLISHED THINGS THAT COULD NOT HAPPEN IN EARLIER DECADES

01.08.2019

During the last two years we accomplished things that could not happen in earlier decades. The shared efforts of the governments of Greece, Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia gave your country an immense prospective on its path to the European Union and NATO. Huge steps were made, that were not easy for any of the three states. This is what Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said during the press conference in Skopje after his conversation with the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia Zoran Zaev. Prime Minister Borissov noted that the upcoming joint presidency of the Berlin Process of Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia next year shows that the European Union appreciates when states are on the right track.

I hope that historians would not put up an obstacles, but would make great efforts and would find the right way to present history, that will unite us, also said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. He was certain that the Commission should find an acceptable solution at all costs, as this is essential for the future. They have a historical task to complete these topics until October, underlined the Bulgarian Prime Minister. “We should work together as much as possible, and not only the meetings of the Commission should not be postponed, but it should work on a daily basis. We have little time to put an end to these conflicting issues. For all that we argue about – they have given their lives and energy, they have sacrificed themselves so we can stand together,” noted Prime Minister Borissov. According to him, the goal of the fallen heroes was for us to be brothers and to have prosperity, and it would not be fair to their dreams and goals if prosperity and development cannot be achieved.

I have fought with all of my authority to have what we do now, underlined Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. He was certain that there is nothing better for the Republic of North Macedonia than to be part of the NATO and the EU.

After the end of the press conference, Prime Ministers Borissov and Zaev took part in the ceremony of laying flowers on Gotse Delchev’s grave in at St. Spas Church in Skopje.
