PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV IN BRUSSELS: I CANNOT HAVE ANY SOLIDARITY FOR WAR, FOR NO ONE

17.10.2019

It would be a historic mistake if a European perspective is not given to the Republic of North Macedonia and Albania, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said prior to the European Council meeting in Brussels. "We have a clear view, one that is extremely important for the Balkans, the region and our neighborly relations – a European perspective to be given," Prime Minister Borissov said. "We have so many demands for them, but we would never prevent them from starting negotiations. It will be a severe blow for the peoples in these countries," added the Prime Minister.

Asked by the media outlets about Brexit, Prime Minister Borissov noted that he admires Michel Barnier and thanked him for his excellent work. According to the Prime Minister, he cannot comment more on the issue before it goes through the British Parliament.

Asked by a journalist about the events in northeastern Syria, Prime Minister Borissov said: “We have always supported Turkey when it has had problems with migration and with camps, and we have given money for that before. But while there is war, I cannot support military action. I cannot have any solidarity for war. For no one. Whatever this costs us - I repeat it again. For everything else, we have supported Turkey because we are partners in NATO, we are neighbors and they are protecting us from migrant waves. However, they cannot expect support for the war." Prime Minister Boyko Borissov was certain that the war should stop.
