PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV HELD A PHONE CONVERSATION WITH THE PRIME MINISTER OF QATAR

Stability in the Persian Gulf region is of particular importance for Bulgaria and the Balkan region. In this respect, we welcome and support the resolution of the current crisis situation through political means and diplomacy. This was stated by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov in a phone conversation with the Qatari Prime Minister Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani on the occasion of the diplomatic crisis in the relations of some Arab states with Qatar.

Prime Minister Borissov expressed the desire of the Bulgarian state for a peaceful and rapid solution to the critical situation in this very important for Bulgaria region. The Prime Minister noted his categorical position against any form of further escalation of the situation, as well as against the involvement of factors external to the region. Borissov highlighted the importance of maintaining the stability of the Cooperation Council of the Persian Gulf Arab States, which according to him is to the interest of the entire region.

The Prime Minister pointed out that Bulgaria appreciates its friendly relations with the states from the Arab world and underlined cooperation with Qatar. Since the beginning of this month, our state also took over the local Presidency of the EU in Doha.
