28.09.2017

The Bulgarian state insists that the rights of the Bulgarian minority in Albania should be guaranteed in accord with the international legal standards, said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov in a phone conversation with the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama. The occasion for the statement was the draft law on protection of minorities that is in preparation by the Albanian government. Borissov pointed out that he expects the law to include texts that protect the rights of the Bulgarian minority in the country.

The Albanian Prime Minister assured Prime Minister Boyko Borissov that the law is still in a drafting process. Edi Rama made the commitment that Albania will not violate the interests of the Bulgarian minority. He underlined that the communication with Bulgaria on the draft law will continue so that the interest of Bulgarians in Albania be defended.
