24.06.2017

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov congratulated the teams that worked on the project for the first Bulgarian geostationary communications satellite. “BulgariaSat-1” was successfully launched last night from a launching pad at the NASA Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

“This event put our country among the 12 EU countries with a most significant presence in space. A state can be deemed developed when its economy is knowledge-based, and when more and more of its companies develop and deliver innovative technology solutions and services that are widely accessible… The first Bulgarian geostationary communications satellite will ensure more and increasingly qualitative telecommunication services on the Balkans and in other European regions, directly to our homes”, says the Prime Minister.

The space project development was done by the Bulgarian company “Bulsatcom”, which is supported by an American and other international partners for its implementation.
