PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV AND PRESIDENT ERDOGAN HELD A PHONE CONVERSATION

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov had a phone conversation with the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The two gave a high assessment of the development of relations between Bulgaria and Turkey and the cooperation in the framework of NATO, as well as for the maintenance of the security of EU external borders. Also discussed was the progress on the construction of the interconnectors of Bulgaria with Turkey and Greece, which are to guarantee the energy independence of our country. The conversation on these topics will be continued during the upcoming visit of the Minister of European Affairs of Turkey Ömer Çelik.

President Erdogan pointed out that the visit to Bulgaria tomorrow of the Turkish Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock Ahmed Ashraf Fakibaba for participation at the Bulgarian-Turkish agro-forum will contribute to stimulating the relations in the sector of agriculture and livestock, as well as in agricultural science.

Erdogan congratulated Borissov on his re-election as leader of the GERB party and pointed out that his leadership is a guarantee for the good relations between the two countries.
