PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV AND HIS ROMANIAN COUNTERPART MIHAI TUDOSE ATTENDED THE LAUNCH OF THE NEW BORDER CHECKPOINT KAYNARDZHA-LIPNITSA

03.10.2017

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and his Romanian counterpart Mihai Tudose attended the launch of the new border checkpoint Kaynardzha-Lipnitsa. The launch of the border checkpoint is in implementation of a Bulgarian-Romanian agreement from 2012.

In accord with a Regulation of the European Parliament, the Bulgarian and Romanian border policing agencies should carry out joint control on the common borders, whereby the individuals and vehicles passing via land border checkpoints should be stopped and checked only once at entry and exit. Since 2007 an intergovernmental agreement between Bulgaria and Romania for common control on border passing is in force.

In implementation of the agreement and in accordance with the Code of the Schengen Borders the road border checkpoints are located on Romanian territory, whereby it is foreseen that the facilities for border checks are used by both the Romanian and the Bulgarian border police.
