PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV AND DONALD TUSK DISCUSS THEIR EXPECTATIONS ABOUT THE EU-TURKEY SUMMIT

26.03.2018

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and European Council President Donald Tusk discussed the expectations about the EU-Turkey Summit. In a conversation ahead of the working dinner today, they both highlighted the importance of the meeting with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. “As I have said many times, it is important for Bulgaria to have good relations with its neighbor. Good relations are also important for the EU because of the management of the migratory flow, which has created many problems for the Union in recent years,” the Bulgarian Prime Minister pointed out.

Borissov underlined that Bulgaria is interested in normalizing the dialogue between Ankara and Brussels and will try to contribute to achieving an understanding that solves rather than creates problems.

Your idea for this meeting as an opportunity to resume the dialogue with Turkey is great and is being highly appreciated by all, with whom I have discussed it, European Council President Donald Tusk told Prime Minister Borissov. He pointed out that many issues that need to be discussed have been accumulated, and the best way to solve them is through dialogue.
